The Red Maple is a tree native to Eastern and central North America, including Florida. You can see these trees come in to color while driving on Florida’s Turnpike or other major highways throughout Florida.
These trees can reach 50 feet or more, but on average you typically see them around 30 feet. Although Red Maples do bloom, the flowers are small and followed by colorful pink/red winged seeds that are more visible. The new growth emerges a bright red, giving it that pop of color.
Growing naturally in Florida, these trees are very tolerant of wet areas and can naturally be found in flatwoods, swamps, and moist secondary woods.
